About WASL Afghanistan

Afghan organisations deliver most of the country's essential services. Our job is to make sure they are coordinated, compliant and heard.

WASL Afghanistan is a nationally led NGO coordination, incubation, and institutional strengthening platform established in 2020 to enhance the resilience, sustainability, and collective effectiveness of NGOs across Afghanistan. As one of the country’s largest NGO networks, it connects around 790 member organizations across all 34 provinces through an inclusive, decentralized system representing diverse groups, including women-led, youth-led, disability-led, and returnee-led organizations. WASL facilitates coordination forums, technical working groups, capacity development, peer learning, and policy dialogue, while providing support in institutional strengthening, compliance, safeguarding, risk management, accountability, and knowledge sharing. Guided by transparent, member-driven governance, it serves as a bridge between civil society, government, donors, UN agencies, and development partners, strengthening localization, partnerships, and the collective voice of NGOs in Afghanistan.
